Shield Your Light: How to Protect Your Energy in Turbulent Times

2025. A new year filled with hopes, ambitions, and dreams—yet beneath the surface, currents of chaos, unease, and distress persist. You know the feeling. January promised a fresh start that would put the wind in your sails, but by February, you began to find holes in the fabric. Two steps forward and a shove backwards. A mindful morning, quickly overshadowed by a looming to-do list. A moment of rest, disrupted by distressing headlines. Beautiful intentions to curate your ideal life, only to be smoldered by the flames of outer influence and daily stressors. 

How does one exist in peace in a world that never stops? How do we find our center in a world that’s swiveling on a crooked axis? 


1. Practice Self Compassion 

While we can’t control the outer world, we can choose how we respond. We can decide how we react and what steps we take moving forward. But this requires practice—and self-compassion. True self-compassion isn’t something you master in a weekend course. It’s a lifelong commitment to loving yourself, even in moments of frustration and distress. When you meet yourself where you are, you begin to feel safe in your own body. You learn to trust yourself, to listen to your inner guidance. And from this space, real, lasting change becomes possible.

To begin, place your hand on your heart, close your eyes, and take a deep breath. Feel into your heart and acknowledge any heavy emotions you may be carrying. Remind yourself that you are not alone in these feelings—pain, hardship, and grief are part of the shared human experience. Follow this with a small act of self-kindness, such as talking to a friend or treating yourself to a soothing latte.

2. Daily Grounding Practice

Grounding can take many forms. You can physically ground yourself by stepping outside and placing your feet on the grass, dirt, or sand to connect with the Earth. Gaia's electromagnetic charge helps raise your frequency and keeps you anchored when your mind starts to drift. If going outside isn't an option, you can also visualize a cord extending from the bottoms of your feet, your tailbone, and the palms of your hands. See this cord burrowing deep into the Earth, through all its layers, down to the magma. Feel the sense of safety and security as you are held by Mother Earth.

3. Protection Bubble

This technique is especially helpful when you know you'll be entering a space with heavy energy or will be surrounded by people who don’t quite align with your vibe. Imagine a large bubble surrounding you, creating a shield for your aura. This bubble acts as a barrier, only allowing energy in or out that you consciously give permission for. You are fully secure, and nothing leaks from this protective sphere. You can envision the bubble glowing with white or golden light—or any color that resonates with you. Affirm: I call all my energy back to myself.

As we continue to move through 2025, we must remember we are not powerless. The ability to protect our energy, cultivate inner peace, and create balance starts within. By practicing self-compassion, grounding ourselves in the present, and shielding our energy when needed, we can begin to reclaim our center and embrace the challenges with greater clarity and strength.

Peace is not found in a world that slows down, but in the way we move through it—grounded, compassionate, and aligned with our true selves.
